Devon Stateline Field Solar Photovoltaic Array and Battery Storage Project
Integration of Solar Photovoltaic Energy and Battery Storage into Production Operations
Devon Energy commissioned Omnia to perform a feasibility study on the integration of a solar photovoltaic array and battery storage to enhance its oil and gas production operations in the Stateline Field in the Delaware Basin, reduce power cost and carbon footprint, and increase runtime.
The project included a deep analysis of Devon’s private power grid and dynamic load characteristics. Omnia and Devon developed a renewable energy solution that would reduce operating expenses and carbon footprint, and increase runtime through the inclusion of battery storage. The solution included a report on the energy harvested from the solar photovoltaic array, a detailed capital cost estimate, a robust economic evaluation, and an environment assessment.
Devon entered into an Agreement with Omnia to construct a 5 MW solar photovoltaic array with a 0.5 MW lithium-ion battery directly connected to the Devon’s private power grid. Completion of the project is anticipated in the third quarter of 2022.
Refined Products Pipeline Solar and Battery Storage Feasibility Study
Integration of Solar Photovoltaic Energy and Battery Storage into Pipeline Operations
One of the nation’s leading common carrier pipeline operators of refined products, serving more than 70 major cities in 16 states, engaged Omnia to explore the development of photovoltaic generation and storage facilities to supplement existing pipeline infrastructure and operations
This Feasibility Study included a systematic review of raw operating data and utilized data analytics to develop a solar and battery storage strategy tailored to the client’s unique operations and power demands. Omnia identified and quantified the specific operational benefits of this solar solution that would provide reliable power at a lower cost than the alternative. Omnia worked directly with the client’s facilities group to ensure optimal sizing of the solar array and resultant operational benefits were achieved.
Our client, a private equity firm and creditor, needed informed counsel regarding its potential investment in gas gathering, processing and use of NGL pipelines.
We provided a comprehensive analysis of several regional pipelines which included an overview of supply / demand fundamentals, an assessment of available markets, contract interpretation, a review of strategic alternatives and scenario work on potential repurposing of pipelines.
